Having grown up on a farm in Kansas, Debra has spent a lifetime of intimate connection with our natural world. Seasons of fleeting color, the perpetual cycles of life, growth, and renewal... the ephemeral joy of the perfect blossom, the transitory glimpse of a deer and her fawn in the early morning of a new day... a transcendent passion for the exquisite variety of life surrounding us.
As an adult among the concrete and steel corporate world, Debra was fortunate to travel extensively as a corporate consultant. With opportunities to explore the United States and Canada from Maine to San Francisco, Debra picked up a camera to experience and document the many natural landscapes she visited. She has captured images from rustic rural America, the incomparable character of the country's National Parks, to uniquely expansive cityscapes. Through photography, she found a renewed spiritual peace along with creative gratification.
Debra soon came to appreciate the artistic medium of photography and developed a desire to refine her talent. She has spent the past decade studying under gifted, professional photographers to further develop her knowledge of portrait, scenic, wildlife, lighting, and artistic expression. Working with other nature and wildlife photographers has inspired her to further excel, to capture on film the visions once locked inside her mind and heart.
Debra's work has won numerous awards in juried shows both locally and nationally. It has appeared in magazines and has been featured on CD covers and inserts.
